Fire extinguishing substances of isolation

Foam — the most effective and widely applied fire extinguishing substance of the isolating action, represents colloidal system from the liquid bubbles filled with gas. The film of bubbles contains surfactant solution in water with various stabilizing additives. Foams are subdivided on air and mechanical and chemical. Now in practice of fire extinguishing generally apply air and mechanical foam.

Various frothers apply to receiving air and mechanical foam. Air and mechanical foam is received mixture of water solutions of frothers with air in proportions from 1: 3 to 1: 1000 and more in special trunks (generators).

Depending on a scope frothers in the CIS are divided into two groups: the general and purpose. Frothers of general purpose have a hydrocarbonic basis and are intended for receiving foam or solutions of smachivatel for suppression of the fires of solid combustible materials (class A) and combustible liquids (class B). Frothers of purpose (fluorinated) are used at suppression of oil, oil products and polar organic liquids. The same group included the Sea frother having a hydrocarbonic basis. The last can be applied to receiving foam with use of sea water and is intended for suppression of combustible liquids on vessels and objects of navy.
